(Is. 40:3-4) “3 The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make straight in the desert a highway for our God. 4 Every valley shall be exalted, and every mountain and hill shall be made low: and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough places plain.”
(Jn. 1:23) “He said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet Esaias.”
I believe that this means that crooked things should be made “straight” that is linear. Economics should be linear (however it is a question: for what the dependency of the earned money on the amount of work more linear: for a linear scale of taxes or for a progressive scale of taxes).
